Translated by John Carew Rolfe
The Jugurthine War (Latin: Bellum Iugurthinum; 112–106 BC) was a military conflict between the Roman Republic and king Jughurta of Numidia, a kingdom on the North African coast approximating modern Algieria. The conflict was a significant phase in the Roman conquest of northern Africa and the ascendancy of the Roman Empire. Sallust’s Jugurthine War was written around 41–40 BC.
